Cost of hiring a fresh grad (Degree/Diploma), starts at about $1,800/month to about $2,000/month. Let's take $2,000 as a gauge.

What about hiring someone with perhaps 2-4 years of experience as a Silverlight or WPF developer? That comes up to about $2,500 - $4,000. We'll take the average on this one, which comes up to roughly $3,250/month. We'll round that up to $3,300.

And if you need to hire another designer who can work on Expression Design, or Blend products (most mainstream web developers and graphic developers in Singapore are only familiar with Photoshop and Illustrator (9 out of 10, maybe).

Let's say, we get a corporate-level Reporting Dashboard project, and an average project can take somewhere between 2 months to 6 months to reach a full closure (collecting full payment). Let's do the math together, say the maximum you can hire is 2 more people on your team, and ranging from 2 months to 6 months project scope, how much will your overhead be? We'll assume now that either one of the new staff is a fresh grad.

 $2,000 + $3,300 = $5,300/month.

2 months project: $5,300/month x 2 =  $10,600
6 months project: $5,300/month x 6 = $31,800

Well, first and foremost, I'm not an accounting graduate, but I think it's pretty obvious the amount of overhead it will costs if you have the need to maintain a Silverlight or WPF development team. Especially if your company has just started branching out. Note that the above amount doesn't even include your own organization's operating expenses.
